Studies have suggested that Reiki is a bio-field energy therapy which helps reduces anxiety and depression and stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system for feelings of relaxation. Reiki was developed by Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan in the 1920s. It is a form of healing therapy that is applied through noninvasive, non-manipulative gentle touch. Reiki involves lightly laying of hands just above or on the clothed body, working over the front and back in a slow progression of hand positions. Reiki has no religious affiliation and is accepted by people from all backgrounds and belief systems. Reiki is not an alternative to allopathic medicine, it is a complementary therapy that can be implemented alongside all other medical and therapeutic techniques.
In this course you will progress through 3 levels of training. For each level you will have research articles to read that support what we discuss in the power points. You will also have quizzes over the readings and lectures to help you check your understanding. You can access videos of our Qi gong practice and handouts of the primary reiki symbols.
The course runs from May through October 2021.
